I had to change my layout because those notebooks were really getting to me. They were grilling me into writing, so I couldn't. It confined the blog into something literary and we all know I've abandoned that "theme" so long ago. So welcome the flowers and the weird butterfly because it looks like they're here to stay. For now.
First order of business: I have to pluck my eyebrows. They are in such a wild state. I used to pluck my eyebrows every single day. I would lock myself up in my room and concentrate on getting every single strand out. Nobody was allowed to talk to me, too. The whole process is very relaxing - from choosing a position that won't make your legs cramp or your right arm hurt, to choosing the perfect tweezer angle. My eyebrows are very bushy and once, I got so fed up I took a nailcutter to them in seventh grade. I ended up with white spots both on top and under each eyebrow. The shape, however, turned out perfectly. A little too thin, but perfect. When I reached high school, they grew into regularly arched eyebrows and now I can't live without my tweezers. Anyway, I didn't bring my huge magnifying mirror so I have to sort of sit atop the bathroom counter. It's very awkward. I have to decide between slipping off or falling face-front into the sink.
So that's said.
After more than ten years, my cousins in Mexico and I have finally made contact. And it's all thanks to eyes. My cousin Xio took a few pictures of herself and some turned out looking a lot like me. And so the getting-to-know process begins again. It's sad falling out with family members, especially when we have gone through so much years and memories. Xio and I used to fight over the big swing in our grandparents' house but now, she's got green hair and I flew all the way to Los Angeles to wrestle with a possibility. Franco and Valentin used to get into tickle fights but now, Valentin's got a daughter and my brother is in law school. We've all grown into our individual personalities and missions in life but we will always be family. Our mothers will always look almost identical and Xio and I will always have the same eyes.
In Valentin's words, "The Sarabia molecules are taking over."
On that note, I'd like to end by saying that my appetite, after three weeks, has finally kicked in. I shall now proceed to eat like a trucker.
